Concrete is has many benefits and characteristics. Its adaptable personality allows it to be shaped, coloured, and embrace very small details. We embrace concrete for what it is and appreciate that it can often have a mind of its own. Variations in mould material, mixing, and curing techniques can cause the material to adopt a different appearance, making each piece truly unique.
It is important to know that hand-cast concrete design is far from “perfect” as it can naturally develop imperfections in its surface, including bug holes or changes in tone. This is completely normal and can, in fact, add to the character of your piece. Taking these imperfections and making them functional is what creates a product that is irreplaceable.
Concrete is quite durable and long lasting, but it is also a porous material and can be sensitive. Even though most pieces are sealed, the surface can still be a little delicate when exposed to oils, chemicals, food, and sometimes even water. Knowing about the care and upkeep of your concrete is valuable before we begin your project.
