Board-Formed Concrete Fireplace, Oxford County

Concrete fireplace surrounds are an amazing way to draw attention to one of the most unique features in a home, the fireplace. At Anthony Concrete Design, we appreciate the look of board-formed concrete in creating modern yet sophisticated fireplace surrounds in homes across Ontario.

Adding a modern, board formed texture to this concrete fireplace surround was an incredible way to create a unique aesthetic; the individual custom made, wood grain concrete panels are only 8” high and expand across the width of the fireplace. Finished with mitred corners, this concrete fireplace surround adds dimension to the room with a look that completes the chic decor finishings.

Concrete Fireplace Surround With Wood Texture

This particular home emanates elegance and style with its high ceiling living room and unique loft sitting area. Working with the client, we believed that creating a board-formed concrete fireplace surround that utilized the height of the room while drawing attention the fireplace would be the ultimate way to complete the sophisticated aesthetic.

We worked with the client to integrate a built-in concrete shelf, which features a smooth texture that stands apart from the wood grain of the fireplace surround. This concrete shelf was seamlessly integrated along with the hearth to add a cozy element to the sophisticated room and allow a safe space for family heirlooms and unique decor additions to be integrated into the look of the fireplace.

Creating Visual Interest with a Variety of Colours and Concrete Textures

Utilizing concrete tiles with a board formed texture, harkens back to the rustic aesthetic of wood, while making use of the endurance, eco-centric and non-combustible benefits of concrete. The industrial chic vibe that homeowners can enjoy can be emphasized with the flexibility of concrete design elements; for example, it is possible to mix up colours between panels to create more visual interest.

Board formed concrete is a popular finish which compliments an industrial chic style, using aged, natural and worn textures juxtaposed against modern interior decor and design choices. We love the finished look of this concrete fireplace surround in Oxford County, Ontario and believe that board-formed concrete might be a great addition to your interior design project as well.
